Kitimat Supplier DayWednesday 27th May 2009 Rio Tinto Alcan Procurement is hosting a Supplier Update in Kitimat on Wednesday, May 27, at the Riverlodge Recreation Centre, 654 Columbia Avenue in Kitimat (click to view map). BC Lions “Eagles in the City”Local artists, in partnership will create a unique design and apply it to the surface of a 7 ½ foot custom formed fibreglass Bald Eagle. The Bald Eagle becomes the artist's canvas. Once the work is complete, the Bald Eagle will be displayed in prominent public spaces around the participating cities. Rio Tinto Alcan, a project sponsor, purchased an Eagle and is on display in Vancouver. Project proceeds benefited the BC Lions Society for Children with Disabilities and the Canucks for Kids Fund. |
Rio Tinto Alcan Dragon Boat FestivalThis is one of the premiere sporting and cultural events on the summer festival calendar in Vancouver, attracting teams from around B.C. and beyond. It is a celebration of the province’s Asia-Pacific links. Rio Tinto Alcan has been title sponsor for more than a decade. |
Vancouver International Children’s FestivalThis popular annual summer festival attracts more than 50,000 people. Rio Tinto Alcan BC has operated a station giving children the opportunity to make puppets and hats from aluminum and other recyclable products. |
Pacific Salmon FoundationThe foundation’s Community Salmon Program helps conserve and rebuild salmon populations in northern B.C., by providing funding for technically sound and volunteer-driven projects. |
