Rio Tinto Alcan BC administers a Community Investment Program, through which it disperses more than $1 million annually to support diverse initiatives benefiting its operating areas and B.C. as a whole.
Many Rio Tinto Alcan BC community investments at the provincial level align with broad categories of support – such as science, technology and the environment – that have been identified as priorities throughout Rio Tinto Alcan.
Within its operating areas, however, Rio Tinto Alcan BC applies more flexible criteria to funding applications. It supports a broad range of civic and community projects through dedicated CIP budgets in both the Kitimat-Terrace and Watershed Regions.
Rio Tinto Alcan BC has a preference for long-term, partnership-based relationships with the organizations it supports through the CIP – often involving broad and innovative forms of support, engagement, and recognition.
