Overview
Rio Tinto Alcan’s BC Operations Community Investment Fund has been re-implemented after a two-year hiatus during 2009 and 2010 due to the global economic recession. This has given the organization time to revamp the program and develop guidelines to better help community groups and organizations complete their requests for funding and support.
The Community Investment Fund aims to engage with and support local communities; assist and participate in important local causes, events and charities; support programs that our employees value; and provides Rio Tinto Alcan an opportunity to educate the region more about our values, goals and business.
Rio Tinto Alcan is committed to participating in the social and economic development of the regions we operate in. You will find below our criteria for community investment for both the Watershed and Kitimat regions. Please review these documents carefully to ensure your written submission aligns with the criteria and please remember to provide whatever supporting documents required, such as budgets or letters of support.
While it is not possible that all requests for community donations will receive support, we are very pleased to continue our company’s long tradition of participating in sustainable community initiatives and sponsorships.
