Environmental Reports
Rio Tinto Alcan Primary Metal BC Operations became the first operator of an industrial facility in British Columbia to obtain a multi-media environmental permit from the provincial government ministry. This replaces a number of separate permits and comprehensively addresses multiple emissions, effluents, and wastes. Our comprehensive Environmental Annual Report is submitted to the B.C. Ministry of the Environment annually.

Rio Tinto Alcan Primary Metal BC Operations marked its 50th anniversary of operations in British Columbia in 2004. Five thousand people returned to Kitimat to enjoy the festivities, which included a pouring of an ingot, a reception for pioneer employees, a fireworks spectacle, family events, and a wide range of entertainment and musical events.
