Rio Tinto Alcan Primary Metal BC Operations produces three product lines, with the large majority of Kitimat’s production (typically more than 95 per cent) consisting of value-added products.  Our products include: Sheet Ingot, Extrusion Billet and Commercial Grade Trilok.

Smelter Operations

The Kitimat smelter is a multi-faceted manufacturing facility, with a rated production capacity of 282,000 tonnes of aluminum annually.

Power Operations/Watershed Management

Rio Tinto Alcan Primary Metal BC Operations in B.C. is first and foremost an aluminum producer.  Its other revenue stream is through its ability to sell surplus power, which has been in practice since the 1950s, generated by our wholly owned Kemano generating station.
